THE JOURNEY
BY LOLA
AND LOLO

Captain Lola was wearing
many days traveling.
That morning he woke up
Like in a dream.
He was looking forward to seeing his friends
But I didn't know if they were
There with her
Or I was dreaming it.

Then he closed his eyes and
Concentrated.
There was something in his hand.
What was it?
I was his friend
the parrot Lolo.
A smile appeared
on his face.

Activity: Close your eyes and guess what objects are being put in your hand.

Do they make you laugh?

He opened his eyes again.
He began to see what
I had it around.
Everything was packed
of laughter and love.

He smiled back.
It was Captain Lola and
I had to take Lolo
to the island.

He ran out of the cabin.
The air was still there.
It was very clean.
He greeted the sun and the clouds.
They smiled.

He saw that in the sea there was
Lots of boats.
All his friends were there.
Lola was very happy!

Activity: Imagine there are friends of yours on the boats.

Who are you?

I really wanted to
Give them a big hug
But I couldn't because
I was surrounded by the sea.
At least I saw them and
I could talk to them.

Activity: Is there someone next to you you who you can give a hug to?

Who would you like to make a video call to?

Unfurled the sails
And let the wind
will push her.

He picked up his compass to
See the address.
I was doing it
Very well!

I just had to leave
Let the wind carry her away
to the island. Maybe it wouldn't be tomorrow
But I'm sure soon
Lolo and Lola would make it.
Just like all his friends.

Activity: Dress up as Captain Lola.

The Journey of Lola and Lolo is a free story to tell, print and color. It was born out of the need to be able to explain the situation to my 3 and 5 year old children. I leave it here in case it can be useful to someone in the face of the challenge that it represents, for mothers and fathers who have small children at home under our care, to improvise day by day to offer our children activities that help them cope with these times.

The story focuses on looking for a parallel with the situation of isolation they face, proposing the image of a Captain who travels on a ship and although she sees her friends (video calls) she cannot be with them.

In this phase I would like to highlight the help of the Neuron Foundation. They helped me review the activities and make the reading more age-appropriate. Thank you!!

PRINTABLE

I have drawn it online and in black and white, thinking about giving the possibility of being able to print it and use as little ink as possible. In addition, they can color the pages they want and fill in the last page on which they can write who they want to see when the "trip" is over.

For young boys and girls, from 2 to 6 years old.

FREE

It is a free coloring story because it is a content that I understand that now is when it can be more useful and I want that if it can help a child to overcome a moment of sadness due to the isolation of the coronavirus, they can do it. Downloading does not authorize any sale of the images or content to others.

I encourage you to look for related content. There are a lot of publishers and associations making content available to mothers and fathers who may need it.
